WHAT
We were approached by The Mono Grande to produce an animated film demonstrating the experiences and journeys of a group of young people within the Fostering Network.
From the outset, the film was developed alongside a group of 10 young people; from initial script ideas, character conceptualisation, through to environment design & narrative. After a few creative discussions with the group, the Mockingbird family started to come to life in 3D.
We built a number of basic bird rigs which were then duplicated & adapted to provide a vast range of varied & versatile birds.
Once the film was complete and Covid restrictions gradually started to ease, The Fostering Network were able to bring all the young people down to our studio in Bristol. And alongside The Mono Grande, we hosted a 1-day stop-motion animation course in which all guests were taught some very basic, very short animation fundamentals. Each team went on to smash their target frame-counts, and after only a few hours of dressing their armatures and practising with the camera, they completed their first ever stop-motion film!
